I grew up in a tough area where the local “bad asses” wanted to earn a reputation. Kind of like the old west. In my 50+ years of living, I have never been to or seen any martial arts class that could teach something how to beat one of these guys. One of them became something of a legend in Atlanta as a bouncer. At only 5' 5″ and 185 pounds he was the most feared person you would ever want to face. For fun, he would go to an outlaw type biker bar and challenge anyone in there. All to build a rep. I won't give his name, but when Googled, I wasn't shocked to see that he became a personal body guard of a bar owner that had some seedy dealings. When someone threathened him. they faced this guy. He actually had to kill two people that tried to ambush him after he disarmed and beat up another guy, an ex-con, that came armed to confront his boss. He first got a death sentance, but a witness finally came forward to say it looked like self defense. He still served 4 years. These are the type people that amaze me. What is it that makes them never lose? I really don't know. One thing they have in common is a total lack of fear, never exchange words with someone they plan to fight, never square off or take a stupid stance. They are super quick and super aggressive. No hesitation. Usually the other person never knows what hit them. Martial arts is actually one of the worst ways to learn to fight. While you are getting in your stance, one of these guys will be on top of you in an instant and you will panic. Then its over. These skills are something that I wanted to learn, but never did. This guy that was such a bad ass bouncer could make a fortune it he taught classes or produced a true to life story of what it takes to be him.
